END OF AN ERA

62 years of service to the community

Club Officers 1964

After 62 years of service to the community of Ponteland and support to local and international charities Rotary Ponteland will close on 30th June.

The final meeting of the club was held at The Britannia Hotel on 16th June attended by 10 members. Declining membership and increasing age of its current members has meant that the Club was no longer sustainable.

The club leaves a legacy of that stretches back to 1964 and its founder Officers (see photograph) - left to right John Hetherington – Treasurer, Colin Watkins - Junior Vice President ,Kingsley Longstaff – President, John Waggott -  Senior Vice President ,Bernard Long - Secretary

Our three main fund raising events have each been handed on to other organisations;

Duck Race              - Evening Chronicle Sunshine Fund  - Sunday September 6th

Christmas Market   - Ponteland Memorial Hall - Sunday December 6th

Santa Sleigh           - Ponteland Round Table - dates to be announced

As a final act of charitable support all remaining club funds totalling nearly £4000 have been distributed to nine local charities.

Thank you to the businesses and public of Ponteland for their tremendous support over the years.
