Peter Prior, the landlord of the Bull Inn in st Leonards, was inducted as a member of
the Rotary Club of Senlac St Leonards on Wednesday 18 th March 2026 at a meeting
of the club held at Cooden Beach Golf Club. Peter was sponsored by Andy
Cruttenden and inducted by President Terry Mahindrakar.
Peter was born in the 1960’s and brought up in Woolwich; on leaving school he
became a career banker, first for five years with the National Westminster, and then
moving on to the Singaporean Bank where he progressed to a Vice President. On
his retirement he moved to Spain with his wife, Pauline, where he undertook a
variety of jobs including bar work and estate agency.
A friend Peter had made in Spain moved back to Bexhill, found that the Bull Inn was
up for a new tenancy and, knowing Peter’s interest in barwork, he asked if Peter
would manage the pub. So, in October 2016 Peter and Pauline took over the running
of the Bull Inn; two years later they took the opportunity to take up the tenancy for
themselves. “I’ve always loved bar work and it’s always been a second job for me so
when the opportunity came to run one, we took it”, said Peter. Asked why he wanted
to join Rotary he said, “Pauline and I have always been interested in helping the
community and raising money for charity, Pauline and I founded and ran a food
charity in Spain for a number of years. Now at the Bull we do a number of charity
events and collections, including a yearly party for MacMillan. I see Rotary as an
opportunity for me to help the community even more.”
