Senlac Rotary’s meeting on November 15th was a reminder to members of the poverty that exists in the world, particularly third world countries, and that many are unable to afford food or even scraps. The evening meal consisted of a bowl of leek and potato soup and bread roll which for some people in the world would constitute a banquet. Fortunately, members could buy, at a cost, a small goody bag with additional snacks. The supper was followed by indoor games competitions. The evening raised about £200 which will be donated to Rotary Foundation, Rotary’s own charity and one of the largest In the world, which helps Rotary members to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace by improving health, providing quality education, improving the environment, and alleviating poverty.
The club is grateful to Rotarian Ray Dixon and members of the Foundation committee for their work in arranging the evening.
