The Oliver Curd Trust received a substantial donation from the President of the Rotary Club of Senlac, Fitz Fitzgraham, at the Club’s meeting at the Cooden Beach Hotel on Wednesday, 6th November. Last August Bank Holiday Senlac Rotary organised their annual Music by the Lake, headlined by the Rockitmen, In Rotarian Pat and Judy Connor’s Westfield Lane garden. The day was glorious, record crowds attended and contributed to a record profit as well; the Oliver Curd Trust was the chosen charity for the event. The founder of the Trust, Sarah Curd, and Chairman, Karen Weatherley-Moody, received the cheque on behalf of the Trust. Chairman Karen said, “We are so grateful to the Rotary Club for their donation. We have two caravans which we use for providing holidays for families who have children with terminal or life threatening illnesses. This money will help us so much.”
The Oliver Curd Trust was started in 2008 by Oliver's parents, Richard and Sarah, in memory of him. Oliver was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma in April 2006, and sadly died in November 2007. The Trust provides caravans in Hastings to families affected by childhood cancer and other life threatening and life-limiting conditions. The Trust includes those experiencing bereavement and seeks to provide memories, happiness and periods of escape for children and their families during difficult times. The Trust relies solely on individual fundraisers and organised events to keep the charity and the caravans running throughout the year.
