President Handover

And so another year has gone full circle and a new Rotary year started on July 1st. and this saw the change over of officers and post holders within the club. On Wednesday 3rd July the ceremony of the occasion took place after a dinner at the Cooden beach hotel attended by fifty Rotarians and guests. Outing President Dave Miles thanked all of the members for the help and support given to him and in the activities undertaken by the club. But before the installation of the new officers Dave announced the award of Paul Harris fellowships to two Rotarians Chris Folley and Iain Robinson for their exceptional work undertaken over the years. More detail is in a separate report.  Dave then undertook his final Presidential duty before taking a well-earned retirement by presenting Fitz Fitz-Graham with the Chain of Office and the President’s Pin. Fitz said he was delighted to take over as president and looked forward to working with his committees and members. He was looking forward to the year ahead, “I intend to promote so far as I can Demelza which is a children’s charity. Our club also does a lot of work in Kenya under the name of the Yellowmen.  We also have our Senlac Rotary Club Classic Car Show every year and it is our biggest public event which provides our greatest income which we distribute among several charities. I intend in conjunction with all members of our club to see that we not only continue to drive the interests of those charities along with many others who turn to us from time to time for financial assistance.

I will be looking at how we continue to be involved with and what we do to assist in matters such as Polio which again has become a problem in parts of the world.”

Fitz then presented collars and pins to the President Elect, Geoff Gander, and  to the Vice-President, Roger Young. Marcia Bryant and Colin Davis were handed pins as Secretary and Treasurer.
