Sixty-six members and guests attended the club’s annual Christmas dinner held, this year, at the Highwoods Golf Club in Bexhill. As usual the meal was hearty and well prepared with a choice including a traditional Christmas dinner of roast turkey with all the trimmings. Following the dinner club President Linda Fearn presented Rotarian Colin Goldsack with a Paul Harris Fellowship for the work he does with the PR team. The after dinner speaker was Ann Chance OBE who, in a very humorous talk, spoke about the dream she had at eight years old to be a cowboy and how at the age of sixty-four she fulfilled that dream. Having booked herself on a cattle round up holiday in Montane she decided she needed to learn to ride first; we heard of those experiences and her adventures from her first day at the camp through to subsequent similar holidays. Her talk, entitled “Saddlesore in Montana”, graphically described the experiences she related. President Linda thanked her for a fascinating and enjoyable talk and also thanked dining steward Geoff Gander for his excellent work in arranging the evening. We all echo our thanks to Geoff – well done for tonight and the rest of the year!
