Wed, Jul 5th 2017 at 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Senlac Rotary has a new President for the 2017to 2018 year. Linda Fearn was installed in July at the Club’s Handover evening which sees the start of the new Rotary year. Linda has been in the club for five years during which time she has helped organise youth and community events including the Young Chef competition and she has joined the Yellowmen of Kadongdong team in Kenya twice.

Linda was born in Widnes, near Liverpool, leaving home at 18 to train in London as a teacher. She qualified in 1977 and married in the same year. She has two married children, Mark, a solicitor in Poole, and Emma, a Senior Executive with Elle magazine. Linda has two year old grandson, Michael.

Linda had a successful career in teaching for over 30 years and worked in London Liverpool and Hastings.

Linda said, “I believe Rotary is a great place for anyone who wants to become involved in the local and international causes. I am looking forward to a successful year, supported by a great club”.

President Linda inducts another new Rotarian into the club, Rotarian Sue Adey

Sue Adey was inducted as a member of Senlac Rotary on Handover Evening, 5th July 2017. Introduced by Rotarian Peter Cocker Sue was inducted by the new President, Linda Fearn. Sue has worked for national and independent charities for over 25 years.  She particularly enjoys working on the frontline and her main skills have been benefit advisor especially for seniors and disabled, funding applications and marketing. She is now working for St Michaels Hospice, as a manager at two of their shops, a challenge she enjoys especially as it is helping raise funds for a local charity.

Sue’s current passion is working with a charity for survivors of child abuse.  She is helping raise funds, through funding applications, for the national charity NAPAC and is honoured to have been asked to help. This charity carries out invaluable work in an area which is much needed but is less well known than others.  Her intention is to help raise awareness of their services and also try and help them gain the money they need to expand their current services to help people who have suffered abuse through establishing support groups.

Sue’s community work has won her numerous local and national awards, introduced her to the last three Prime Ministers, and led to her appearance on the Paul O’Grady Show.

Sue has spent most of her life in Hastings, having moved from Dartford when she was 9.  Outside of her work she enjoys spending time with her cat and dog, sewing and photography.

Sue said, “I was honoured to have been asked to join Senlac Rotary as it carries out invaluable work, raises lots of money to help charities and individuals and has a great social aspect with like-minded people. I am looking forward to getting to know all the other members no helping out with all that is happening”.

Welcome to the World of Rotary as a member of Senlac Rotary!
