Bowls Evening (Egerton Park Indoor Bowls Club)

Wed, May 31st 2017 at 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Thanks to a fabulous evening arranged by Senlac Rotarian Stuart Earl, England under 18 International bowler Ajay Morphett will benefit from a bowls evening for local Rotarians and friends. Fifteen year old Ajay, who is a member of Egerton Park Indoor Bowls Club and Spartan/Lakeside outdoor club, has represented England in the under 18 team both indoors and outdoors and is a singles gold medal winner. He has recently attended an England Academy course at Leamington Spa. Rotary clubs from Senlac, Bexhill, Battle and St Leonards combined to enjoy a fun fundraising target bowls competition and a sausage and mash supper at the Egerton Park Indoor Bowls Centre on 31st May. Forty of the seventy people attending tried to hit a variety of targets during the evening, some with more success than others. Ajay presented medals to the Ladies’ winner, Cara Grant, and the Men’s, Bill Smith, both Bexhill Rotarians. Stuart Earl thanked people for taking part and supporting the event and said, “It is so important that we, as Rotarians, support and encourage young people as well as helping the wider community. The money raised will help Ajay and his family with the considerable travelling expenses that he has to meet to further his bowls career.” Ajay is currently sitting his GCSE’s and is hoping to find an apprenticeship in business or administration when he finishes. With the rinks provided free by Egerton Park IBC a not inconsiderable amount was raised.

Well done Stuart, a great evening for all those that attended and a wonderful result for Ajay.
