A potentially life-saving device has been installed in bustling Little Common’s Cooden Sea Road. The Rotary Club of Senlac has donated a second Public Access Defibrillator (PAD) to the village. The PAD is in a brief case sized box fixed to the wall in the parade of shops by Cheese and Delicatessen and the Beauty Spot and is available for public use in the event of a cardiac arrest emergency. The easy to use device which gives clear, spoken instructions may make the difference between life and death if used until emergency assistance arrives. Training is not needed to use one.
After a cardiac arrest, every minute without CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and defibrillation reduces the chance of survival by 10 per cent. When someone calls 999, the operator will know the location of the nearest PAD and will be able to advise the caller if there is one nearby.
The Rotary Club of Senlac have already donated a PAD which is installed in Little Common Community Centre and another at Galley Hill in Bexhill,
