Lord Lieutenant is Guest of Honour at Rotary Club of Senlac"™s 30th Charter Celebration

The guest of honour at the Rotary Club of Senlac’s celebration of 30 years service to the local community and internationally was the Lord Lieutenant of East Sussex, Mr Peter Field. The club’s 30th Charter Night was held at the Cooden Beach Hotel, Bexhill, last week (Wednesday 2nd September)

Over 70 people attended the celebration, amongst whom were the President of Bexhill Rotary Club, Raouf Oderuth, Rotarians from other local clubs together with many of the original Founder Members and Past Presidents of Senlac Rotary.

After the meal and toasts a Roll Call of Founder Members present was read out by the club secretary and Past President John Relfe. To mark 30-years as a Rotary Club a certificate, signed by K.R.Ravindran, the President of Rotary International, was presented to the club President, Roger Young, by District Governor Ray Dixon. The District Governor also made a presentation of Long Service Awards to eight serving members of the club who together totalled 240 years of voluntary service and inducted two members into the Rotary Club of Senlac. They were Barry Pick, a previous member of Stockport Lamplighters Rotary Club, a retired Chartered Insurance Practitioner, and Mike Styles of Little Common, a retired Chief Executive and Divisional MD.

After the formalities the guests were treated to an entertaining talk by the Lord Lieutenant of East Sussex, Mr Peter Field, on the role of the Lieutenancy. His humorous presentation was enjoyed by all.

The vote of thanks was proposed by Past President Robin Poll. Thanks must also go to Mrs Lynn Poll for all the lovely flower arrangements.
