New President Appointed

Rotarian Carole Owczarek takes over as club president from Rotarian Richard Young.

The chains of office have been handed over at the Rotary Club of Calverley as they begin a new year in July

Outgoing president Richard Young handed the chains of office over to incoming president Carole Owczarek , at a recent meeting. “Highlights for the year chosen by Richard included Charter Night, making Treasurer Adrian Gange and Carole Owczarek Paul Harris Fellows, delivering 180 Christmas Lunches on Christmas Day for people living on their own, The Christmas Craft Fair and Collecting outside Asda Pudsey for local charities”.

"There were laying of wreaths at Pudsey, Rodley, Calverley and Farsley War Memorials by members of the club on Remembrance Sunday”. Richard was always keen for the club to be involved with local groups and sports groups. Plus we supported the Rotary Shoeboxes Appeal by sending 190 boxes this year and purchasing Rotary Aquaboxes

"Incoming President Carole has pledged to continue and build on the excellent work being undertaken both within our community and internationally. Carole has also recognised that membership recruitment remained a crucial issue with new opportunities now being made available to Rotary in Great Britain and Ireland. This was a challenge that had to be grasped” Publicity packs for the rotary club have been placed in local libraries to encourage the local community to learn more about the work of the club and hopefully join us as members or 'friends of Rotary'.
