Tees Heritage Walk 2026

A community celebration of Tees history, fellowship, and fundraising

Rotary Cleveland is proud to support the 4th Annual Tees Heritage Walk on Sunday 17 May 2026, joining Middlesbrough Erimus Rotary and fellow clubs as walkers, marshals, and fundraisers. This much‑loved event brings people together to explore the rich heritage of the River Tees while raising money for charities and community causes across the region.

What the day involves

The walk begins at Middlesbrough College, where participants can sign in from 8:30am and set off any time between 9:00am and 11:00am. The full 11‑mile route follows the river to Stockton’s Infinity Bridge and back, crossing the Tees Barrage and several historic bridges. Along the way, QR signs share stories of the Tees’ industrial past, adding an educational dimension to the experience.

To make the event accessible to all, several shorter return routes are available, including:

  • A 1‑mile dawdle around Middlesbrough Dock
  • 6.9 miles to Newport Bridge
  • 9.8 miles to the Tees Barrage
  • A wheelchair‑friendly route avoiding gravel paths

Safe, supported, and open to everyone

All organisation and safety measures are in place, with marshals, signage, and toilet facilities provided throughout the route. Every participant receives a certificate of completion, making it a rewarding day for families, groups, and individual walkers alike.

Entry and registration

  • £5 per person
  • £10 per family
  • £4 per person for groups of 10+

Participants can register online or download entry and sponsorship forms. Route maps and full event details are also available. Once registered, walkers will receive information on travel, parking, and available facilities.
