Result of Santa’s Visit in December 2024

SEAFORD ROTARY members were delighted that Santa visited the streets in Seaford in December and supported the Mayor as she switched on the Christmas lights in Broad Street at the “Seaford Magic” event.

Santa with his team of helpers on Tuesday 10th December

The weather was generally dry and pleasant, except for the wet and extremely windy weather on the weekend of 6th and 7th December brought by Storm Darragh when we had to curtail the Broad Street static collection in the morning and cancel the Saturday evening collection.  The latter was rearranged for the following week.  It is strange that last year also saw very wet weather on 7th December.

This year, as before, we have had help from very many volunteer collectors for which we are extremely grateful, and thank them all most sincerely for their helpful participation.  We are also indebted to five volunteers who drove the Sleigh, lead the collections or wore the red cloak and white beard.  In all the volunteers occupied 168 (90%) of the 186 collecting slots including those during Saturday morning in Broad Street.  We look forward to working with them all again in 2025.  Several have already indicated their wish to help in December 2025.

Unbelievably, despite the financial constraints of the cost of living increases, we are astounded at the generosity of the people of Seaford yet again, such that the collections have raised £13,580 for the Seaford Rotary Charitable Trust - this figure is 4% lower than last years record collection.  All the money raised will be used for supporting both local and international charities.

All at Seaford Rotary once again thank everyone who have given most generously in December, whether it be with their time to help with the collections, or their cash donations for this joyous event.
