Before he arrived, there was much discussion behind the scenes as to how his collection visits could be more efficient, and this resulted in changes to some of the routes that he followed, including the introduction of the Seaford Grange development at the old Newlands School site.
The weather was generally pleasant although cold for all the nights with some wet weather plus strong winds in the third and fourth weeks. As usual Santa’s elves had thick clothing and strong shoes to keep their fingers and toes warm.
This year we had help from many Volunteers and Friends for which we are extremely grateful. Our thanks to them all for their enthusiastic participation as they filled 119 (81.5%) of the 146 street collecting slots.
We look forward to working with them again in 2023. Several have already confirmed their intention to help in 2023. We also had three new lady Rotarian “Team Leaders” who conducted the collections on 6 evenings.
As always it was lovely to see the wonder on the children’s faces and the joy of their parents as they talked to and received their “magic sweets” from Santa.
Despite the financial constraints of high energy costs plus inflation, we are astounded at the generosity of the people of Seaford such that the collections have raised £12,706 for the Seaford Rotary Charitable Trust which will be used to support both local charitable and international Rotary projects.
All at Seaford Rotary would once again like to thank everyone who has given most generously this December, whether it be their time helping with the collections, or their donations.

more Following the cancellation of his visit last year, Santa and his elves visited Seaford before Christmas. During seventeen December evenings, he travelled around streets in Seaford and visited Broad Street on three Saturday mornings and Christmas Eve.
