Bluebell Walk and Farm Trail

Another year of fantastic bluebells at the Bates Green Farm, Arlington; stunning blues and tranquillity. We were again privileged to have the opportunity to provide the refreshments for two days (2nd and 3rd May) at the Bluebell Walk.

Mixed weather presented us with times of hectic preparations and manic moments in the kitchen and then times of little action.  Planning and catering for the Bluebell Walk is rather unpredictable as the success of the day depends entirely on the weather and of course the state of the bluebells.
As usual none of this would be possible without our excellent catering and support team and cake makers.
This year our cake display was fantastic ranging from Rocky Road to beautifully iced cakes.  The farmer congratulated us on our display and even put pictures of them on Instagram.  Mary Berry beware!!  This year we also provided our visitors with a selection of gluten free, dairy free and vegan cakes which were much appreciated.
Our table clearers and washer uppers were as cheerful as ever and great efforts were made to ensure continuous supplies of clean china and cutlery especially at peak times.
It would be remiss to omit the sterling work done by the team of Greeters; first impressions count with the public even though much of the time was spent sitting on the scooters.  (I was later informed that they were practicing their manoeuvring skills ready for the Rotary Grand Prix!)
Making sure there is enough help to cover the shifts from the gate house to the loo cleaners is always a bit tricky but with true Rotary spirit the show goes on acting out the Rotary motto Service above Self.
