Exclusive! Blood Pressures rise as Rotary goes Racing!
Saturday the 20th. April was a busy day for the Rotary Club of Hornchurch and Upminster. At 10am a small group of members under the direction of Brian Taffs prepared the banners and A boards outside the church in Upminster to encourage the local residents to check out their blood pressure. At 10.30, with the doctors in place and Ann Evans and Jan Taffs processing the paper work, the annual pilgrimage of locals wishing to know the state of their health got under way. We had another good response with the doctors seeing 171 patients and of those 27 (16%) were referred to their own GPs, as a precaution, due to their high blood pressure.
Once that excitement was completed it was over to the Windmill Hall in the evening where another small band of members (some doing a double shift), under the leadership if Norman Ellenby, prepared the hall for the annual Race Night.
