ROTARY CLUB OF HORNCHURCH & UPMINSTER
VOCATIONAL & YOUTH SERVICES COMMITTEE
The Committee will continue the good work of previous committees and continue to draw upon the depth of experience and enthusiasm of its members and the club as a whole in seeking to;
Better understand the needs and aspirations of all young people in our locality and, by means of new and existing Rotary Programmes and initiatives, assist them in achieving their goals. This we will seek to do by ;
1 Continuing the successful initiative of contacting and asking local Primary & Junior schools for ways in which we may be able to assist them. Providing support for local Secondary schools and colleges where required or requested. Working with other Rotary clubs in Havering, where appropriate, in any activities promoting the development of skills and talent of the youth of the borough.
2 Review any Rotary programmes suggested at the 2011 District Assembly and identify those that could be supported by our club
3 Continue to support local schools by offering to organise an annual quiz as we have done for Upminster Junior, Langtons Junior and Engayne Primary Schools.
4 Offer to highlight the work of Rotary International Rotary GB&I through schemes such as Shelter Box and Aquabox at school assemblies.
Continue the Canal Boat trips with Dycorts School.
Continue to support and work with the other committees of our Club.
Organise another Junior School Choir competition in 2012 following the success of our first such event this year. We shall also explore the possibility of a Glee Club competition for Secondary Schools and whether there would be sufficient interest from the schools.
Arrange trips, visits etc. for members, family members and guests where possible.
