Young Environmentalist Competition
We are pleased to announce that the winners of our “Young Environmentalist” competition were recently presented with their winners’ certificates and vouchers. Emily and Emma offered a delightful video on the subject of “Happiness in Nature”. This was a showcase of short poems, spoken over views of different scenes of the Troon landscape.
Their winning entry was forwarded to the District Scotland South competition, and we are delighted to say that once again the girls came out on top!
The attached photo shows Emily and Emma receiving their awards from John Crerar, Troon Rotary Youth & Vocational lead and Jim Moulson, joint President of the Club. The girls each received two District certificates, one of which was on seeded paper for them to display and later cut out and plant in a moist compost in a pot or window box.
They and their school, Marr College, also received Silver Birch saplings to plant and watch grow into trees over time. Their entry has now been forwarded to the National (UK) final, and we await the results with anticipation.
