Selling Crocuses to help eliminate Polio

...

As part of our club efforts to support the 'End Polio' campaign we sell or give crocus corms to the public in exchange for donations.  Here we are seen manning our End Polio stand in Morrison's store in Helensburgh in October 2024 and a huge thank you to the Helensburgh public who helped us raise over £900

The crocuses given to the public will produce purple flowers in the spring to remind everyone about our polio campaign.  The purple colour is the same colour that is painted onto the little finger of children to show that they have been given the polio vaccine.

World Polio Day was on 24th October and this year Glasgow University, College of Medical, Veterinary Life Sciences, was proud to light the south facade of the main building in purple to help raise the profile of our end polio campaign and producing an incredible effect as seen in this photo. In doing so they joined countless landmarks worldwide in raising awareness of polio and supporting the global effort to eradicate this crippling disease.
