Service defines Rotary's character; whether local, national or international, it promotes Rotary's appeal and visibility in the community, and is one of the reasons that Rotary continues to grow.
Community Service responds to the needs of the local community and our club determines top priorities for service projects by first learning about our community's needs and then seek to develop a response that addresses them.
Our geographic area currently includes schools and other youth organisations in Helensburgh, Cardross, Garelochhead, Rosneath Peninsula, Arrochar and Luss.
Our aim is to help in the safe development of young people by giving them a platform to showcase their talents, lead a safe life online, and to help them make a difference to the world around them. Currently we offer these programmes:
Internet Safety
Since 2017 we have worked in partnership with Police Scotland, the MOD Police and Argyll & Bute Council to present an Internet Safety programme to Primary School children in years 6 and 7. This has involved a presentation by our police partners to all the primary schools from Cardross to Tarbet and a Rotary Poster Competition for the children to demonstrate and communicate their understanding of the dangers associated with using the internet.
Each year culminates in a presentation at the Helensburgh Civic Centre to parents, teachers and the prize-winning young people. See Internet Safety sub page for more information.
The 2024 Awards Ceremony was held on 19th April in the Helensburgh Civic Centre. See page with details
