One of the main projects of the Club this year is supporting the Rotary International Polio Eradication Campaign, in particular helping to meet the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation US$200 million Challenge.
Our target is to raise awareness of the disease and the work being done to completely eradicate it while raising much needed funds for the immunisation programme.
As the disease largely affects the very young we have approached all the Primary and Special Schools feeding into the Kilmarnock area and are delighted to say we are obtaining tremendous support from them and East Ayrshire Council.
During August/September we plan to provide presentations to the schools and leaflets for the pupils to take home to parents. Throughout October we plan to plant in excess of 25,000 Giant Ruby Crocus Bulbs at the schools which should bloom in February/March 2012.

So far (13/10/11) we have spoken to the pupils at 16 schools and helped the children plant over 15,000 purple crocus bulbs. There have also been multiple reports and photographs in the Kilmarnock Standard.
Further information will be added to our website as the campaign progresses.
