President Elect Hits the Airwaves
Invited to discuss Hunterston Rotary, its Quiz Night and the Club's first ever Headliner Sponsor of the event, Vice President & Press Officer, Norrie Hunter (right) spent a "stimulating" on-air half hour as the guest of his local radio station.
3TFM Radio broadcasts across Ardrossan, Saltcoats, Stevenston, reaching further north towards West Kilbride and Seamill and has a growing online audience,
Station boss and the station's top presenter, Archie Edgar (left) chatted with Norrie who took the rare opportunity to explain what a major sponsorship pledge meant for Hunterston Rotary
Norrie said:" The news that Galileo Energy had agreed to support our Club's annual Quiz Night on October 25th was most welcome."
Galileo is the developer of a proposed green energy wind farm project in North Ayrshire.
Norrie explained how proceeds from the popular event, which will include a 'Silent Auction' and a major Raffle will go to the Hunterston Rotary Community Awards programme.
The Hunterston Rotary Vice President said: "It was indeed a privilege to be invited on-air and allowed to show our gratitude to Galileo Energy for its generosity and to explain to listeners the important work the Club undertake each year within the community.
"3TFM is an exciting radio station that delivers news, views and of course an excellent choice of music for all ages. Local radio is a key platform for Hunterston Rotary as we continue to provide financial support to local groups, clubs, organisations and individuals in need of help.
He added:"Support that has been offered by Galileo Energy will go a considerable way in boosting our monetary awards throughout this part of North Ayrshire."
Norrie was joined via Whats App by Galileo Energy's Communications Manager, Cris Thacker who said that the company had been "delighted to be able to join Hunterston Rotary by becoming its Headline Sponsor of its popular Quiz Night".
"The Club does an amazing job within the local community and becoming the headline sponsor was a very easy decision for us as our proposed community wealth fund and shared ownership offer has been well received by the community here.
"I hope the Quiz Night is a roaring success and raises lots of money!”
Norrie - a former journalist, spent over 30 years in Corporate and Public Relations - joined Hunterston Rotary three years ago, becoming its Press Officer and now also Vice President.
He admitted: "It has been a number of years since I've been in front of a microphone live on-air, in fact my job in corporate and Press communications has been to ensure the right people are interviewed...and saying all the right things, of course!"
