Wednesday 4th March saw the return of the Rotary Primary School Quiz in the local area. Largs Primary school hosted the PSQ organised by CKC Rotary passport club.

There was a great representation with schools from Largs, West Kilbride and the Three Towns taking part: Caledonia, West Kilbride, Winton, Largs, St Anthony’s, St John’s, St Mary’s and St Peter’s.

The teams of, Four P6/7 pupils, answered questions on a wide range of subjects, including, General Knowledge, Books & Films, Music, Maths, Logos, Sport and Science. All the pupils entered the competition wholeheartedly. Much of the involvement was serious, but there were some light-hearted moments too. The sight of thirty plus pupils playing imaginary instruments as they tried to work out which instrument in an orchestra was named after its shape was hilarious.

While the adjudicators were checking the results Rotarian, Gavin McCully, gave a brief talk about Rotakids and, how they, and Rotaractors, could become involved in Rotary and campaigns such as “End Polio”.

After a close fought competition, the West Kilbride Primary team of, Angus Cooper, Ruby Cahill, Finn Livingstone and Alexander Dailly, emerged winners.

The St Peter’s team, Daniel Burn, Cameron Donnelly, Bethany Wardrobe and Esme Mooney-Ritchie took second place.

Both teams will go on to the Regional Finals competition after Easter. We do not have any details of exactly where and when this will take place.   

All the members of CKC Rotary would like to thank the Staff at Largs Primary for their support and help arranging this event, and, a very big “Thank You” to all who took part. The pupils were a credit to their schools
