President Derek Hall welcomed thirteen other members to the last weekly meeting of 2021, and inducted Michael Dawson into membership of the club and Rotary International.
President-elect Reay Mackay updated the club on the Malawi appeal, and said that club required to raise £500 to enable books to be purchased for the Helensburgh classroom at Lillongwe. It is hoped to hold a fundraising event early in 2022, and otherwise members are invited to make personal donations to Reay.
The club approved youth convener Graham Smith's suggestion that a decision on whether to hold the Young Writer and Young Photographer competitions be delayed until the new year, when the Covid picture restrictions picture might be clearer.
The president organised and held the annual Christmas raffle. The principal prize of a bottle of Glen Moray Speyside malt whisky from the Elgin area was won by Gordon Burgess, with Lesley Kennedy winning a bottle of claret, Graham Smith a bottle of Beaujolais, and Adam Muggoch a bottle of Prosecco.
The weekly raffle for a whisky miniature was won by Donald Fullarton.
