President Derek Hall welcomed thirteen other members and two guests, speaker Michael Dawson and Phyllis Fullarton.
He conducted the induction of new member Romano Crolla, who was propsed by his son-in-law, Henri van der Stighelen.
Michael, who has recently moved home to the Helensburgh area with his wife after many years in South Africa, spoke on the years he had enjoyed there since after moving there in 1967 and going to live in KwaZulu Natal. He described the hope engendered by the election of Nelson Mandela and the improvements he inspired there, and contrasted that period with the country today and the political, economic and energy supply difficulties it has today.
President-elect Reay Mackay proposed the vote of thanks. The weekly raffle for a whisky miniature was won by Alastair Wilson.
