President Mike Jane welcomed fourteen other members, and guests Clive and Gail Horton.
Alastair Wilson reported that he had confirmed that Lomond School would host the P7 Quiz on Monday March 11. He will now invite the twelve local schools to enter a team, and will be seeking help from members in running the competition.
The Secretary read an email update from past president Jack Rudram, who is on leave of absence and is currently living in Banchory following the sale of his house in Shandon. He and his wife Carol are house hunting in both the Helensburgh and Aberdeen areas, so far without success.
Jack said that he had attended several meetings of the Rotary Club of Banchory Ternan, so-called because the local Patron saint is St Ternan, which is an evening club with some 40-50 members and quite a range of activities. The major fund-raiser is the Deesside Classic Cars Rally which is held at the end of May — applications welcome from all classic car owners — and there are also a number of youth activities such as the Tech Challenge, Young Musician etc, plus a curling team, a golf team and both a walking and a cycling group.
They meet in a local hotel over an evening meal, the quality and nature of which appears to have been creating some angst among the members.
Jack said: "It’s a discussion which I seem to have heard somewhere else before but my only comment is that there are times when one remembers the RNCYC meals with affection!"
The weekly raffle for a whisky miniature was won by Donald Fullarton.
