Club Meeting — District Governor Gary Loutit

Tue, Sep 26th 2017 at 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

District Governor Gary Loutit paid an official visit to the club and talked about his three priorities for his year in office: increasing membership, the campaign to eradicate polio, and raising the profile of Rotary.

President Gordon Burgess welcomed twelve other members and District Governor Gary Loutit of the Renfrew club, who was making an official visit to the club.

Gary stressed that, despite annual changes in Rotary branding, in his view the best branding was the motto Service Above Self. "It is at the core of all we do," he said. "However, this year's slogan, 'Making a Difference', is worth undertaking."

Membership remained a priority, and he revealed that if District 1230 had 65 or 70 fewer members, it could be merged with another Scottish district — a prospect he did not welcome. So paying more attention to PR was now a real priority.

Gary closed by saying: "I want us all to have some fun in our rotary in this coming year."

The president proposed the vote of thanks, and the District Governor made the draw in the weekly raffle for a whisky miniature — drawing out the name of raffle organiser Derek Hall.
