Ethiopia

Sadhu Gupta gave a presentation on his time in Ethiopia with the eye camp team. Things did not start well with the most important of their medical items being lost by KLM. However they were able to obtian implant and aother items locally but at a cost. The work carried out by Sadhu and his team was amazing in very difficult conditions. When you realise that Ethiopia has so few eye specialists and that all but one practice in Addis Abba, the scale of the problem is huge. many hundreds attened and some for of vetting had to take place with precedence being given to those with bi lateral cataracts. It was humbling to see a child having to lose an eye completely, and made you realise how lucky we are in the west. As John Walker said the work done by Sadhu epitomises the Objects of Rotary
