Talk on Malawi

Thu, Mar 2nd 2006 at 12:00 am - 2:00 am

Andrew and Morag returned to tell us about their year in Malawi. They first came to us in August 2003 to tell us about their impending adventure. Little did they realise what lay ahead of them. After three months of relative luxury in the capital they were transferred to the mountains to manage a run down outdoor youth adventure centre,  orphanage and guest centre. The last thing they found there were guests staying. When we were shown the pictures of the place we realised why. The orpanage was in a similar state but was occupied.  No doubt if the children could have gone elsewhere they would have left.

Andrew and Morag tackled the challenge and with dogged determination and hard work achieved what most thought was impossible. They made it work!! It is now a Malawian showpiece and attracts groups and people from all over the country and is self sufficient. I now know what it is like to feel inadequate as I think I would have found the task almost impossible. Congratulations to the both and success for the future.
