President Norman said the Selkirk Grace which was followed by the procession of the haggis, piped in by John MacLeod. A spirited Address to the Haggis was given by Jim Blair to the approval of all including the haggis.
The traditional meal that following was Haggis, Neeps and Tatties as a starter followed by Steak Pie, veg, potatoes and the traditional chips. All followed by oatcakes, cheese and tea or coffee. This traditional feast was enjoyed by all present.
The toast to The Immortal Memory of Robert Burns was given by Alan Beck, a well known member of Caledon and friend of the Rotary Club of Gourock. This was an absorbing and wide ranging talk on the Bard with many illustrations of his poems and their significance and meaning.
The vote of thanks to all who contributed to the event was given by vice president Jane Cox.
Yes, it was a very good evening.
