Grumpy Old Men

Thu, Jun 19th 2008 at 12:00 am - 2:00 am

This years Grumpy Old Men were Jim Adamson, Bob Webster, Jim Blair and Alan Duncan and man did they entertain us. The introduction was provided by Archie Livingstone.

Jim Adamson clearly has concerns about the islanders coming to the mainland and the speeding and havoc they can cause at 20 mph. He also like many of us, hates shopping with the service received being not what it should be.

Bob Webster has significant concerns about the changes to the education system that are clearly evident both at the schools of today and the level of educational attainment of at least of some of our next generation.

Jim Blair tantalised us with the prospect of a Job talk but backed away at the last moment to give us a feel for the many issues in life that concern him.

Last but not least was Alan Duncan who provided good advice as to how to interpret the statements made by our good ladies. I can add only one which is, when there is clearly something wrong and you ask what that may be it will inevitably result in the statement "If you do not know I will not tell you".
