Nigel Willis Save our Regional Park

Clyde Muirshiel Park is at risk. Nigel Willis of the Save Our Regional Park campaign came along to tell us just how much our Clyde Muirshiel Park is at risk. Wind farm developments have already encroached into the park and planning applications are already in place to develop large areas of the park. The campaign group are not against wind farms but the park was established to protect areas of natural beauty and wildlife. Nigel showed us just what damage wind farms can do to areas of natural beauty with the infrastructure that has to be put in place to establish wind farms. Borrow pits have to be made to get the hardcore to put infrastructure in place. After the farms are in place these pits become an eyesore. In Ireland wind farm developments caused peat runs where whole hillsides were unestablished and caused massive damage that could not be halted despite the best efforts of the developers. Careful thought has to be given as to whether we want such developments in areas where they can cause untold damage to both communities and the resident wildlife.
