Open Meeting.
Thu, Sep 16th 2010 at 12:00 am - 2:00 am
President Elect, John Pow, reported on the very successful visit by fellow Rotarian Mr Allan Ezzy, from Holroyd, New South Wales, Australia and the lunch held in the Inverkip Hotel to welcome him. Mr Ezzy had presented President Jane with a book about the history of Holroyd during the lunch. Members felt that a reciprocal gift on the history of Gourock would be appropriate, if one could be found. Bob Webster and his wife, Mary, might be able to deliver it during their forthcoming holiday to Australia and, hopefully, Holroyd in particular. Club Secretary, Ritchie Foulds, announced several vacancies for positions at District level and called for volunteers interested in taking up these positions to put their names forward for consideration. Bob Webster informed the members that he had sold on eBay the unused items donated for the charity auction which, sadly, had been cancelled due to lack of interest. Members were then addressed by Mr Alistair MacFarlane, Assistant District Governor, who took the opportunity to introduce himself to all as the direct point of contact between our Club and District. Bill Alexander then showed a DVD compiled from the Scottish Film Archive as an example of what could be done to have our own DVD made up about Gourock and Inverclyde which could then be used to raise funds for charity.
