Fri, Mar 19th 2010 at 12:00 am - 2:00 am
A visit by members of the Rotary Club of Gourock to the Rotary Club of Dunoon 50 Charter Dinner.
The 50th Charter Dinner of the Rotary Club of Dunoon was held in the Argyll Hotel Dunoon on 19 March 2010. The Chairman was Andy MacDonald, President.
A very good, extensive meal followed Grace by the president, who also proposed the Loyal Toast (which was blessed by Jim Hunter!).
The toast to Rotary International was proposed by the Rt. Hon. Brian Wilson MP. Brian is a local, Dunoon man - born and bred. His speech was in the form of reminiscences about Dunoon and some of its characters. The reply was given by David Fowler, President of Rotary GB&I.
The toast to the Rotary Club of Dunoon was read by President Dr John Paul of the Rotary Club of Greenock which is the mother club. President Andy of Dunoon gave the reply.
The toast to the Visitors was given by Sandy MacPherson, Past District Governor of District 1230. The reply was given by Hugh McCracken of the Rotary Club of Napean-Kanata, Ontario, District 7040. The general vote of thanks was given by Dr Bryson Hamilton.
This was a most enjoyable evening especially for the food, fellowship and friendliness of the company. It was very well organised. There was even a fleet of Rotarian cars to take those of us who arrived by ferry from Hunter's Quay to the hotel and back. Guid lads!!
