Heritage Park Wishing Well

Quarter of a million and counting!

During the weekend of 4th/5th October 2020, the 250,000th coin was dropped into the Wishing Well.

Since the Wishing Well was erected in June 2007, £16,450 has been donated by the generous public of East Kilbride.  Over the years, the Wishing Well has given donations to individuals and organisations from East Kilbride who approach the Rotary Club for assistance in particular fund raising or charitable efforts.   To date, there have been 93 donations made amounting to £15,890 and over 70 different individuals and groups living or operating in East Kilbride have benefitted.  Among the beneficiaries have been Dementia Care, Woman’s Aid, East Kilbride Newstape, Special Needs Playgroup, East Kilbride Hospice, Older and Active Group, Ward 19 Hairmyres Hospital, Cardiac Rehab, East Kilbride Community Food Bank, Loaves and Fishes, various youth groups and individuals and all secondary schools in East Kilbride.

The last helping hand was given to 150 local families known to the Social Work Department, families who have been badly affected by the COVID-19 virus and who valued support in purchasing household necessities.  Morrisons Lindsayfield and Stewartfield stores kindly allowed members of the Social Work Department and Rotarians Rod and Kath Shanks to collect (over four visits) household items for distribution.  The picture below shows President Roddy Shanks with representatives from the Social Work Department and Morrisons Lindsayfield Community Champion Jeanette.
