President Paul Jones welcomes his Dad Howard as a new member to the club
Community service clubs like Nottingham Rotary often find sons following in father's footsteps. But in a twist of the tradition this week, President Paul Jones welcomed his Dad Howard as a new member to the club.
Nottingham Rotary club is in its centenary year this year having begun in 1918 along with sister club Derby. During the year the club will be having plenty of celebratory events, many with sister club Derby. They include fund raising events for local good causes including a barn dance in September, a brass band concert in October, Dragon racing evenings in November and a family dayout at Elvaston Castle next June.
Retired college lecturer Howard was so impressed with the work the club did that when his financial advisor son Paul became President this year he asked if he could join. It is a bit of a role reversal, said Howard, but I am really enjoying it.
