Once again, we were at St Nicholas Church in Durham Market Square supporting this important cause and inviting members of the public to have their blood pressure checked - by professionals!
Nationally, Stroke Awareness day is organised by the Stroke Association and Rotary GB&I.
Check out the Stroke Association Know Your Blood Pressure website.
The number of people checked was about 160 - slightly up on last year - and about 15 were advised to see their GP as a matter of urgency.
Again, we must thank Rtn. Barbara Wells and her husband Mark, together with past president Margaret Anderson for their professional skills in the testing, Community Services Chairman David Grey for getting things organised and Inner Wheel members Norma Laverick and Barbara Kingston for their help.
We enjoyed some entertainment this year - the Durham Rams Sword & Morris Dancers turned up to perform outside St. Nic's. We even persuaded their leader to have his blood pressure checked!
... and everything was OK! At least it was before he started dancing ...
And their sword-dancing skills were amazing to watch.
