This event was coordinated by the Vocational Service Committee under the chairmanship of David Jackson - who had this to say afterwards:-
Thank you to the teaching staff and contestants from Durham School, Durham High School for Girls, Belmont Community School and Durham Johnston Comprehensive School for getting involved and making this year's Youth Speak a fantastic event!
Thank you to Durham Union Society, for all of their support for this event and all of the effort put in by the coaches, and for Ben and his guidance and judging on the night.
Thanks also Lt. General Robin Brims CB, CBE, DSO, DL, and Professor John Clark OBE, DL who had the unenviable task of judging and trying to pick a winner, not an easy task, and I am told lots of heated debate even from the judges.
Annalie Grogan of DUS did a wonderful job of organising, coordinating, and making this event happen. Thanks Annalie for all of your hard work and support for the Youth Speak programme.
Well done to Durham Johnston School who were the winners on the night, following a very tough and entertaining contest with every school and speaker really raising the bar!
