The President's Jewels
During 2005 Club Council decided that the President’s “collar” was becoming just a little too heavy (and fragile) to wear with any comfort, since it was weighed down with 82 chunks of metal carrying the names of all the past presidents. So a new “collar” was commissioned. This, in turn, prompted Council to commission a cabinet in which the old “collar” could be preserved and displayed. As a mark of his appreciation of 25 years of fellowship in Rotary, Treasurer Alan Ribchester very generously decided to fund this cabinet, made by a local craftsman.
The old "collar" now carries the names of the first 75 past presidents and is permanently on display in the cabinet at the entrance to the restaurant at the Ramside Hall Hotel.
