A report on the talk

President Mike presenting cheque to Pam (Rock Foundation)

Today’s visitor was Pam Hodge, CEO of the Rock Foundation which is now 17 years old. Pam began by thanking us for our continued support - it was very much appreciated.

Pam mentioned the food bank but focused upon their work with people who had learning difficulties (this includes the building at Caistor) .

Activities include:

Woodworking (items are for sale at Caistor)

Cooking,

Baking,

Serving at table (Caistor),

Washing up (one person loves to do this),

Gardening,

By doing this it helps them with their communication skills, provides a sense of achievement, confidence and dignity.

They try to re-integrate their clients into the work place (and initially have chaperone) but this is not without its problems.

Mike thanked Pam and said that in his year he was focusing upon young people and  presented a cheque to Pam - money raised mainly from the Organ Show Case.
