As part of Grimsby Rotary Club's agreed policy of actively expanding its membership, a significant step in the right direction has been made by the recent induction of its first ever lady member since the Club's inception in 1930.
Melanie McNulty worked in operations in aviation for many years before moving to renewable energy. Once working with two national aviation charities, despite a busy lifestyle, she has joined the Grimsby Rotary Club to contribute to her local community. Melanie said "Having looked around various organisations in the area, the Grimsby Rotary Club stood out as being a long standing valued charity which offered the right hands on projects, volunteering and community activities which improve peoples' lives locally. I am looking forward to helping increase the diversity of the membership to enable the Club to continue to thrive and I encourage everyone to consider joining or becoming a Friend of the Rotary."
The Club hope to encourage more ladies to join and further expand the appeal of Rotary membership which is open to all ages and genders. This very much accords with the aims of Rotary International which, worldwide, has some 1.4 million members, with an ever increasing percentage of women, currently around 25%.
