Over 20 Rotarians, partners and guests met at Weelsby Hall in a change to our normal lunchtime routine.
We were divided into two groups and given a guided tour of rooms on the ground and first floor. Many of the original large rooms have been partitioned into smaller rooms and the whole building is now in a poor state of repair.
The building was completed in the 1890's for George Sleight and his family. George was only in his late 30's at the time, having already made a large fortune. The quality of workmanship and attention to detail in the building is still apparent.
Fortunately the Linkage Trust who own and run the building have secured Lottery Funding to the tune of £3 million pounds, but need to find another £2 million to fund the complete restoration.
After the tour, we enjoyed a buffet lunch.
A very interesting event, hopefully we can return when restoration is complete.
