When a person joins Rotary they have to give a “Job Talk”, which helps members to know and understand what a person has done in their working life.
Today it was David Naylor, classification 'Engineer.' David began his working life as an apprentice at Laporte’s (a former chemical company) as (what we would now term) a control systems analyst (a modern term). From there he progressed to the oil,gas and electrical industry and moved to Norway where the company was making and selling band saws. Eventually he became a manager and later a business owner.
Returning to the UK he became a contractor and worked in the Middle East, South America and in Lybia. Unfortuinately in the latter country he was caught up in the war and had to be rescued but suffered from PTSD. He returned to work in commissioning oil and gas rigs. He is now retired.
