The “Organ Showcase” was held in the Assembly rooms of Grimsby Town Hall and the organist was Michael Baron. A programme of music from the Great American Song Book, the shows and the classics. The concert was to raise money for Women’s Aid (North East Lincolnshire).
President Mike Briggs welcomed the audience and representatives of Women’s Aid said a few words.
The organ had been rescued from a redundant church in the Freeman street area, restored and installed in the Town Hall. Many people present at the show were of the opinion that it should be played more often - being a “notable” organ.
Michael played for half an hour before the coffee break, followed by the second half.
It was a good atmosphere and the audience enjoyed the selection of music.
People were very generous with the raffle and proceeds will go to charity.,
