Dolly Parton Imagination Library

Today’s speaker was Karen Bacon from South Parade School.

We have been supporting the Dolly Parton Imagination Library for a number of years and  Karen brought us to date with the scheme. Eventually there will be 24 children in the scheme. Before pre school teachers visit children at home for an assessment of skills and unfortunately it is a very deprived area of the Town.

Karen began helping the school as a parent volunteer and is now organsiing away weeks for children to the Lakes or Derbyshire,  Children benefit from seeing new and different environments (it may be the first time that some have been outside Grimsby)and walking .They are assisted by other volunteers.

The latest idea is to purchase  4 bell tents for children to camp out either locally or elsewhere, in addition they  need walking shoes.The tents can be used for other events.

Karen is hoping raise money and is working with a local supplier ofc amping kit.
