Elizabeth has a continuous history with the guiding movement since the age of 7 and speaks passionately about the opportunity it gives for girls to grow and develop in a stimulating and caring environment. She also works in the volunteer section of VANEL.
The pack meets once a week at City Church in Chemsford Avenue, it is formed of members from a wide catchment area extending as far as Nunsthorpe. With subscriptions being maintained at an affordable level, one of the challenges is the need to raise additional income to fund rental of the church facilities and provide guide materials.
The girl guide movement will be introducing a new handbook and activity packs in September. Elizabeth would like to be able to issue a handbook free of charge to each of the girls and have sufficient activity packs available to get started. The pack is needing to raise GBP200 to cover this initial outlay.
Following the lunchtime meeting, president Chris and wife Jo visited the brownie pack on 3rd July to present a cheque for GBP500 to Elizabeth on behalf of the Club. Their appreciation was expressed in a hand-made 'Thank you' card which was shared with members.
