What is VANEL?

Voluntary Action North East Lincolnshire (VANEL) develops, promotes, informs and supports the local voluntary, not-for-profit and charitable sector.

Empowering Young People

Victoria Russel, a youth development worker with VANEL spoke to us about the support given to young people to empower them to create activities and events for the benefit of the community. For example the organisation provides expertise and services to assist with the setting up and running of a Kids Club in the West Marsh area.  The objective being to encourage participation in football, box-exercise, as well as arts and crafts to steer youngsters away from crime. VANEL provides assistance in the hire of event venues, carrying out risk assessments and first aid trainng. 

Funding

VANEL is a registered charity supported by donations and although no direct support is received from the government, in the past some funding for the youth activities has been received from the crime reduction budget. VANEL has links with the early intervention team and the Shalom youth project.

President Chris was pleased to present Victoria with a donation towards this important work
