The generosity of Grimsby supermarket shoppers to the annual Christmas supermarket collections makes a substantial contribution to the Grimsby Rotary Benevolent Fund from which local charities are the main beneficiaries.
This Year's total of GBP1878.68 exceeds recent years collections by well over GBP300 (although we did significantly better in the years 2010-2014) - well done everyone involved.
The club has decided that this money should be put to use as soon as possible, therefore three charitable organisations that provide services to the people in the area were invited to talk about their work. Lincolnshire and Notts Air Ambulance, Macmillan Cancer Care and Shalom Youth Project were each presented with a donation of £600.
