Two thousand runners registered for the twelve mile circular run from Cleethorpes. Rotarians John Norman, Leslie Donaldson, Tony Powell, Nick Frame, Mike Carr, Chris Oldridge and Murdo McInnes met at the Wellow Inn at Cleethorpes at 7:15 am for the Zone 5 Marshal race crew briefing. All 150 Marshals were provided with water, snacks, hi-viz vests, rubbish sacks, and tee shirts. Following the safety and information briefing the Rotary team were stationed between Tetney Cross Roads and Tetney Lock.
Traffic management proved to be the toughest job as hundreds of drivers were turned away from the various road closures. Several Marshals had verbal confrontations with a few unpleasant people but the runners were very grateful for the support.
The event raised £200 for our Benevolent Fund.
