Peter Daniel a volunteer at the Blue Cross Hospital for animals in Grimsby came to speak to us at our Coffee Morning on 16th May at Jose Carr’s. He spoke from his own research about the history of the hospital and the people who had worked and supported it over the years .
It was a very educational and interesting talk and he mentioned names from the past that some of us knew. Past President Dennis Petchell who brought the Blue Cross Hospital to Grimsby and his Daughter Diane who worked there as a Nurse. Mr George Dougal, a well known Vet from Welholme Road was the first Vet to work there part-time. There were also other names mentioned that one or two knew which surprised Peter so we were able to tell him about them. The Hospital was on Cleethorpes Road but they have now moved to a new build in Nelson Street.
We all enjoyed listening to the talk and then Katie Quickfall presented him with a cheque for £350.00 for the Hospital being the money raised from the coffee mornings for her year.
